Destiny:
a power that is believed to control what happens in the future
It's been a while since this came up, and I think I'm going to make video about this, and please excuse my grammar, I don't think about it when I rant... and I don't find the motivation... courage maybe? to re read what I've wrote and also my English skills just suck in general. So yes, a video of this may come soon...
So, one day in biology class, my teacher brought up whether genes created your destiny or if it was your surroundings that caused it to be created... Ok... at the time it seemed like a good idea to make this... but after reading and researching for Tay-Sachs, I guess it may be obvious... But I guess I should just continue....
So genes or environment. I seriously do believe that, though genes basically code for everything in your life, it is really your surroundings that creates your destiny. I know using a science fiction book as some evidence may not be the best, but I may get to the real facts...
So, a while back, I read a book A Million Suns and the first book, Across the Universe by Revis Beth I believe and (ALERT: I will get into spoilers, so if you don't like that stuff, sorry, but stop right here and don't move on. You may get mad at me if you do and it wouldn't really be my fault because I've warned you, right here. So sucks for you in that case, but I've warned you. SKIP TO THE NEXT PARAGRAPH, if you want of course. There aren't spoilers there.) Elder soon finds out that he, and all Elders/Eldests before him were all genetically identical. They all possessed genes "fit" for leadership. BUT the thing is, each Elder/Eldest (well, at least the three in the first book) acted differently, just because of their surroundings. The first tried to enforce the views of Elder system in, but the 2nd didn't think that was the best way to go. Then, the third, One of the main characters, he is introduced to a girl from the Earth we know today. She has her views of how life should be and though she isn't familiar with life on the ship, she can see things that would be strange, or not normal in our life. Elder, seeing some of the corruption, took away a chemical (Phydus) that made everyone Godspeed (Spaceship) submissive, used by every previous Eldest in the past. .... This just sounds really awkward, but look at each Eldest, though they are genetically identical, they all take leadership pretty differently.
Just take life (argh, a bit distracted, listening to For the First Time in Forever, second time and BLARGH, I'm gonna post something about that too.), someone who may have similar/identical genes, but if one grew up in a loving caring family, great environment, never encounter bullying, etc etc, you may find this person much more approachable than someone who grew up in an abusive life that constantly needed that one person to stand their ground with only fists. Different factors in life towards development can affect how someone grows to be is what I'm trying to say. Similar to a poster I saw in my dentist's office bathroom (XD XD ahaha yes, I know), if someone grows up in a loving and caring family, the kid will learn to love and care as well. If someone grows up in a rough family where fists settle respect and love never appears, the child may learn how to care for themselves, but actually loving, or caring for another may be a reluctant action. No matter what your genes may code for your life, destiny isn't set by them.
(ALERT: going to go into a spoiler moment again. So leave now or you shall forever before scarred of not being surprised by this part in a book. It's not my fault either especially since I'm giving you this warning here. So, shoo if you don't like spoilers.) So, in Allegiant, it had said many of the "healing" towns were always reset/had memory erased when too much corruption surfaced. Since the genes weren't altered, but only the memory, this just shows how genes don't code your destiny. Your destiny before may have been becoming an amazing doctor before, but have that memory erased and put into another environment, high school might not even be your highest concern.
Ok.... I guess I'm done here.... AHH!! It's 12:21 and I still have homework to do... eww, my fault though for doing this. Wish days were longer, but that may just result in me procrastinating more.... ewww. Reading The Fifth (5th) Wave right now. Pretty awesome. I have a few predictions what may happen right now, and many, I hope won't happen, but it may... NOOOO!! If what I think happened, my ship will sink... gosh darn it.... Shipping/fangirl life is hard. Meow, ok, I guess one more thing for the night before I hit the hay, I hope I won't forget anything..... :/
